Novocastrians Against Nuclear (NAN) are a grassroots group, based in Newcastle, Australia. We are opposed to uranium mining, nuclear power, and nuclear/radiological weapons.
The only two options for uranium is that it becomes nuclear power (and then intensely radioactive waste) or nuclear weapons. We believe that Australia, with it's 40% reserves of the world's uranium has a crucial role to play in ending the nuclear cycle by refusing to mine uranium.

Thank you to all who participated in Newcastle's contribution to the national day of action against the nuclear fool/fuel cycle on Palm Sunday, the 1st of April 2007. A crowd of over 120 people braved the rain and paraded down King street in Newcastle, sending the message to politicians that we do not want uranium mining in Australia, we do not want nuclear power, we do not want nuclear and radiological weapons, and we do not want the center of Australia to be turned into a radioactive waste dumping ground.
